Session 2:
Played on 22 November 2003 @ Tom's
GameLocation: near the red 1 on the map.
GameDate: day 3
The party (TwoWeaponFighter, Scout, WoodElfRogue and Bard) is still checking out the silver mine near Durvix Pass
(see previous session). In the last session we stopped just after
having killed the zombies.
We decided to further explore the hallway down. We saw that a little further down, the corridor bent to the right.
After only a few moments, we heared steps coming from ahead, and something slapping. We started retreating, and
a giant lizard (with it's tail slapping) appeared at the bent. WoodElfRogue fired an arrow, severely wounding
the creature (stunned and bleeding 5/round). The Scout and WoodElf-fighter went in for the kill. The giant lizard
was already retreating and didn't stand a chance.
The party went on (suspecting that the creature was summoned). After the bend in the corridor, a bear approached.
The Scout and TwoWeaponFighter held it back, and with an early nasty critical, the bear was lost. The corridor
opened up in a large round hall. In the center of the hall, there was a large natural pillar-like rock
formation, from which water streamed down, forming a basin around its base. At the east of this basin,
a stream started that ran to the edge of the hall, and through a hole in the (natural) wall. The Scout and
TwoWeaponFighter started to go around the pillar, and saw a bear with an orc on the other side, waiting for
them. They engaged the bear, while the Bard joined up with them. The WoodElfRogue (still with his ears
ringing) guarded the entrance, watching their backs for the Goblins that they had left behind in the hall
with the stalagmites. Again, the bear got seriously wounded early (we rolled nice crits, especially the
Scout). Seeing it was going bad for him and the bear, the orc took a potion from his belt and drank
from it. The orc disappeared. The party (correctly) suspected that he was invisible. After killing the
bear two rounds or so later, they heard someone running and jumping (over the stream). The others ran
around, back the way they came to help the WoodElf guarding the entrance. Unfortunately, the orc
beat them to it, becoming visible has he struck the WoodElf. Nasty wound in the hip (-25), stunned
but luckily not bleeding. The same round, the others were upon him, and a nice crit disabled him.
Further exploring the pillar, they found a rune. After some failed read runes attempts, one party
member succeeded (TwoWeaponFighter). The rune was a pledge from the orc to his god to curse
and destroy his foe. The party destroyed the rune, and the eerie feeling of the cave
disappeared. We now believe that the cause of the disease/poisoning is over. We believe this
water came out in the steam near the river. By the way, the orc also had the same
skin-symptoms as the people from the village. The party returned the way they came,
watching out for the kobolds on the ledge (but seeing/hearing nothing of them).
They still had to discover a door at the other side of the first room of the mine
(where the alarm/deafening spell went of). The door was barred from the inside.
After ramming through (with the cart that lay in the entrance room), they smashed
through it. Some kobolds there, hiding behind a tipped table, fired their crossbows.
They were quickly defeated. The room seemed to be a dining room, a very dirty one now.
In this room was another door. In the next room also kobolds, firing their crossbows.
The party members charged trough, setting of a 'trap' over the door that dropped
flower. Due to the charge they didn't get anything on them. They quite easily
defeated those kobolds too. This seemed to be the storage room. They also found
the silver there.
This is were the session stopped (4 hours playing)
Gameplay: At the beginning of this session we made a few 'default' formations/stances, because last session we
had some discussions about who should go in front, in between and last. We now have a default 'indoor' and
'outdoor' formation. This speeded up the game. We also fixed the 'guard duties'. I was pretty insistent on
always having two people on guard, and to do this with 4 characters we had to have a ten-hour night.
