away from the village along a road that will take them and th silver back to their headquarters. They build camp
for a night away from the road. After an uneventfull night they travel on. The log begins around noon).
A tale of bravery
The six of them walked along the old logging trail completely unaware of what awaited them ahead. Suddenly,
as if some sort of six-sense had kicked in, Sjoerd announced that he could no longer travel with them. He
found a side trail and quickly ran off. His timing could not have been better for soon the remaining 5 would
face a great ordeal! As if possessed by some overwhelming urge to keep the group safe, Stefan walked forward
and said 'I will take point for my life is of far less value then that of the groups!' It was as if some
outside force was controlling him. The rest agreed that Stefan should most definitely take point and be
the first to fall if they where to walk into a trap. Soon they came upon an area that had been cleared of
trees. A top a small hill they could see what appeared to be a man sitting in a chair next to an old
logging cabin. The group agreed that this could not be a trap. They then saw some figures hiding in
among the fallen trees. Still the group could not believe this was a trap. They decided that since this
was not a trap they would walk towards the man in the chair. Still not aware that this could possible
be a trap. It was soon clear the man in the chair was not actually a man but a Dwarf. Not just any
Dwarf, a Dwarf they had met many days earlier in a near by town. They greeted him warmly and he
proceeded to ask them about the silver they where carrying. It started to damn on the group that
this may be a trap. Words where exchanged and soon the Dwarf and his companions where demanding
the silver in exchange for their lives. The 5 flatly denied and prepared to fight. They
suddenly noticed a giant pile of logs next to the Dwarf whom they had been speaking with. The
Dwarf proceeded to knock down the supports that had held the pile of logs in place. However,
the logs did not quickly role down the hill like one might expect. They seem to forgotten
the laws of physics and where traveling far slower than they should have. The group had
plenty of time to react but still they where hit by the logs. One of the mules they had
with them was killed instantly. Jonathan and Bruno where seriously injured. That left just
Seth, Stefan and Tom to face the 7 Dwarves that approached them. They where surrounded and
out number but this did not stop the 3 brave warriors. They were determined not to let
their silver fall into the hands of some back stabbing Dwarves. They soon realized they
where no match for the Dwarves and decided to surrender. They where quickly tied up,
stripped of their weapons, and put into the loggers cabin. The group was amazed at
how lucky Sjoerd was to have picked the perfect time to leave the group. One of the
group members was able to free himself from the bonds and then released the other.
Tom went to work healing the wounded and Bruno began to check for traces of which
way the Dwarves had gone. The group decided that they where healthy enough to
give chase and began to follow the trail of the Dwarves. They soon came across
a group of local villagers that had seen the Dwarves pass. It seems the
villagers where in search of some sort of wild cat or cats that had been
causing them much grief. The group tried to beg some weapons from the
villagers but when they failed, they decided to continue on the trail of the
Dwarves. They soon came across a dead body, blood and scattered equipment.
The smarter members of the group quickly agreed that there may have been
a battle here but where not positive. The group was able to scavenge an
ax off the body. They noticed two trails leading away from the scene of
the battle. One trail went forward while another went into the woods.
They decided that the victors of the battle would not have gone off
into the woods. Since they had no weapons they decided to follow the
losers. It was well after dark when they came across a large field.
Across the field they could see a fortress. After much debate they
decided not to attack the fortress, seeing as they still had no
weapons. The group members with better vision snuck around the
open area to get a better look. They soon came across the
Dwarves who had laid the undetectable trap that the group
had fallen into earlier. After much talk it was decided
that it was better to join forces with the Dwarves than beat
the hell out of them [Tom: with our one dagger, right? :)]. They revealed that the people who had
defeated them on the road had taken the groups weapons into
the fortress. Until next time.
